September 2019 Wrap Up

Today I'm talking about the books I read in September 2019!

*Note: I get VERY fired up at the second book on this list. I normally don't get that heated and vicious about books, but this one really pushed me to the limit, especially after having JUST read Gulag which handles such an important topic in Russian history with honesty and lots of research to back it up...I had absolutely no patience for a poorly done book written by someone who clearly doesn't understand Russia. The only other book that got me this mad was Night Film back at the end of 2016. I'm not ragging on the book for fun or for views, I really think it's that bad.

**Edit, later in the day of 10/1/19: Just learned that the author of The Secrets We Kept did go to Russia as part of her research. Could have fooled me. Guess we'll just chalk it up to poor writing and research that was heavily focused on Pasternak (although he's the dullest character in the book so IDK). She's being accused of plagiarism, so it's possible that research was...a bit too close on the Pasternak front? Everything about this book is a mess.
