Kelly's appearance on Good Morning Britain was 'a complete setup'

Liberal MP Craig Kelly says the Australian bushfire “have brought out the best of Australians and the worst of Australians,” and says he went on Good Morning Britain television show “in good faith” and expected the presenters “to also be acting in good faith, but they didn’t do that”.

Mr Kelly told Sky News it was “a complete setup” and that the hosts were not “interested in the facts that we had to say”.

“Yes, what we’ve seen this year has been catastrophic, but we have got to put this in some kind of historical context - drought, flooding rains, and bushfires are part of the Australian environment,” he said.

“The tradition has been in this country, whoever was the leader during a crisis in this country, while the crisis was going on, politics kept out of it, the media didn’t go into the blame game,” he said.

“During these bushfires, they ripped up those rule books, saw a chance to kick the coalition government, relitigate the climate change election that they lost, and put the boot into our prime minister.
