Violence broke out in Belfast on Tuesday night after an asylum seeker was charged with attempted murder over a "sickening" knife attack.

Masked individuals set fire to homes, a Middle Eastern supermarket, and several vehicles, including a bus and a police car, despite appeals for calm.

The "thuggery" disorder followed the arrest of a 30-year-old Sudanese man in relation to an alleged attempted beheading on Monday night.
