Kansas Then (1977) & Now (2026)
KANSAS — THE LINEUP BEHIND "CARRY ON WAYWARD SON" AND "DUST IN THE WIND"
Steve Walsh – Lead Vocalist & Keyboardist
Kerry Livgren – Guitarist (Lead/Rhythm) & Keyboardist
Rich Williams – Guitarist (Lead/Rhythm)
Robby Steinhardt – Violinist & Vocalist
Dave Hope – Bassist
Phil Ehart – Drummer
Formed in Topeka, Kansas, this six-piece lineup set itself apart from the pack by weaving violin into a progressive rock sound built on dual guitars. Leftoverture (1976) and Point of Know Return (1977) turned them into one of the defining American rock bands of the decade, with "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind" becoming two of the most enduring songs in rock history.
