Joseph - Shivers (Studio Performance)

Musicians have poked and prodded from every angle the emotional toll of life’s unstoppable transformation from carefree youth to the overwhelming responsibilities of adulthood. For Natalie Closner Schepman - one third of the Oregon-based sister trio Joseph - the dawn of her thirties felt like the universe wished her “good luck, kid” - only to abandon her to figure it all out. Inspired by the more-salient-than-ever sentiment, Natalie and her sisters - Meegan and Allison Closner - embarked on Joseph’s third record, “Good Luck, Kid.” The siblings beckoned producer Christian Langdon to the project as a means to add dynamic punch to the songwriting that made 2016’s “I’m Alone, No You’re Not” such a stand out record. On “Shivers,” the four-on-the-floor beat pulsates like a Maggie Rodgers track, while the consanguine harmonies evoke Haim and First Aid Kit. Check out a stripped down rendition of that track and “NYE” right here in the studio.
