Musicians have poked and prodded from every angle the emotional toll of life’s unstoppable transformation from carefree youth to the overwhelming responsibilities of adulthood. For Natalie Closner Schepman - one third of the Oregon-based sister trio Joseph - the dawn of her thirties felt like the universe wished her “good luck, kid” - only to abandon her to figure it all out. Inspired by the more-salient-than-ever sentiment, Natalie and her sisters - Meegan and Allison Closner - embarked on Joseph’s third record, “Good Luck, Kid.” The siblings beckoned producer Christian Langdon to the project as a means to add dynamic punch to the songwriting that made 2016’s “I’m Alone, No You’re Not” such a stand out record. On “Shivers,” the four-on-the-floor beat pulsates like a Maggie Rodgers track, while the consanguine harmonies evoke Haim and First Aid Kit.
