I Nearly Ignored the Phone Call That Earned Me $1,000

This photography story is about how I sold my first photograph for $1,000 and how that landscape photograph became the cover of a published novel. Sometimes one image can change everything.
Fifteen years ago I received a phone call from America that I almost ignored because I was convinced it was a scam.

A few days later an email arrived confirming that a publisher wanted to license one of my photographs for the cover of a novel. That image became the cover of After the Snow by S.D Crockett, and it was also the first landscape photograph I ever sold professionally.

Looking back, it remains one of those unexpected moments that reminds me you never know where a single photograph might end up.
