Today you should be looking over the last year and the last few years to see what your goals were and what you had planned to achieve vs what you have achieved.

Is this really what you had planned?

If NOT, why NOT?
Traditional education that focuses on what you got WRONG instead of what you got right is a big mistake. It is important to correct the errors and know how you did on a test…. AND.
When you find out that you can get a 4.0 straight A in a subject that is a clue that maybe you should focus on that major in college and in your career.

So look at your goals for last year and identify if there are any goals you set that you just really are not going to do. Give yourself permission to NOT do them.

Along the same lines, if you hate a subject or a job…. PLEASE stop doing it. Now if you are on a degree program and you need to finish that one painful course, go ahead and do it. If you are working at a job you hate and there are really NO other jobs... then do NOT quit your job. Stay at it and yes look for work elsewhere. Find a job that you love and you will never work another day in your life. That is really the best way to work. Love your work and work on what you love.

The traditional educational system here in America that almost let me down by Not recognizing my learning disability could have really changed the way things turned out if it were not for the wonderful woman at the North Seattle Community College testing center who recognized the simple clues that lead to the discovery of my Differently ABLED learning style.
Because of one person who was paying attention and going above and beyond the call of duty at her work, my whole life changed. I became the honors society president. I became one of less than 3000 Mary Gates Scholars and a NASA Space Grant Scholar.

My dream of wearing a lab coat and working in a research lab came true.

Get out a piece of paper and a pen or a pencil. There are kinesthetic learning skills that actually affect the way you learn if you will just write things down. Or get our your computer and type it or if you must, use the voice to text and dictate your goals to your smartphone.

I was told I was not smart enough to go to college and when I did I became a scholar.
I was told I would not walk again and instead I became an athlete and can ride a bicycle a hundred miles in a day.

The lesson is that “They ARE watching you, they are ALWAYS Watching”
