All of These Came From One Burdock Plant

A few years ago I dug a single burdock plant while foraging in Washington, DC.

The plant died back, returned, flowered, and eventually dropped seed.

Now burdock volunteers appear throughout my yard, including in pots where I’m growing fruit trees from seed.

Sometimes a single plant is all it takes.

Observation reveals patterns.
Patterns reveal the story of the land.
