Leírás

The Fourth Dynasty is often remembered for the Great Pyramid of Giza, but Egypt's royal landscape once stretched far beyond the famous plateau.

At Abu Rawash, north of Giza, stand the remains of a lesser-known royal complex linked to Pharaoh Djedefre, the son of Khufu, builder of the Great Pyramid.

Djedefre's pyramid was once among the northernmost royal pyramids in Egypt and formed part of one of the most powerful royal families of the Old Kingdom.

Over time, much of the structure was dismantled for building stone, leaving only fragments of what was once a major royal monument.

Despite its historical importance, Abu Rawash receives only a fraction of the attention given to Egypt's more famous pyramids.

Today, the site offers a rare glimpse into a chapter of Egyptian history that many visitors never see.

So why did one of Egypt's royal pyramids fade into obscurity...
while Giza became world famous?
