Utsava Sampradaya | Ranjani-Gayatri | Tyagaraja's Path to Liberation Through Music

*"Wealth is not happiness. Sincere devotion transcends ritual."*

Welcome to The Aradhana Spirit, a digital pilgrimage celebrating Sadguru Sri Tyagaraja Swami (1767–1847). Filmed live at the Barbican Centre, London, this series presents an 8-part weekly rollout featuring Ranjani and Gayatri with a world-class ensemble.

???? *Part 7 Featured Release: Utsava Sampradaya Medley*

* Video Title: Utsava Sampradaya Medley
* Ragas: Pantuvarali, Nadanamakriya, Punnagavarali, and Madhyamavati
* Significance: Devotional Worship & Shared Sampradaya

Part 7 features a magnificent medley of four Utsava Sampradaya kritis—compositions traditionally offered in worship during puja. These pieces are beautifully simple yet deeply spiritual, crafted specifically to elevate collective, congregational singing.
Ranjani and Gayatri, along with the ensemble, weave these four ragas together, moving seamlessly with graceful segues. At the heart of this presentation is the celebrated kriti Tavadasoham (traditionally in Raga Punnagavarali), which moves the music beyond a mere stage performance and into a shared, liberating experience of raw devotion.

*The Radical Saint*

Tyagaraja Swami famously rejected royal gold to maintain his spiritual independence, choosing simplicity on the banks of the Kaveri river. Composing in Telugu—the language of ordinary people—he ensured that sincere devotion was accessible to everyone regardless of status. His practice of ekagrata (one-pointedness) stands as an antidote to our modern era of fragmented attention.
