Budapest wasn't always one city.

For centuries, Buda sat on one side of the river while Pest grew on the other.

They were two completely separate cities with very different personalities.

???? Buda became the royal side, filled with hills, castles, and winding streets.

????️ Pest grew into the bustling commercial center, home to the magnificent Parliament Building, grand boulevards, and lively cafés.

In 1873, they officially became Budapest, but even today you can still feel the difference as you cross the Danube.

Standing at the Citadel, you can literally see both histories unfolding before your eyes.

It's one of those places that reminds me why I love travel—not just for the beautiful views, but for the incredible stories waiting behind them.
