The Beach Boys Song Brian Wilson Almost Gave to the Beatles

Brian Wilson came up with this Beach Boys song while he was on his honeymoon and had to keep the entire thing in his head until he could write it down. The story was about a summer romance that went nowhere, but Brian had something else in mind when he wrote the music: John Lennon and the Beatles.

He even considered giving the song to them. Instead, Carl Wilson sang it, without the usual Beach Boys backing harmonies, and it became one of the group’s more unusual songs from 1965.
