Margaret Island is a small island situated in the middle of the Danube river which crosses the city of Budapest, the capital city of Hungary. The island has the area of about 240 acres and there is only green area and recreation facilities can be found on the island. It is a wonderful place to visit and a historic gateway between the parts of the city known as Buda and Pest. It has a former name, the Island of Rabbits, and it has been known since the 14th century. There are a few monuments like Centennial Monument (commemorating the establishment of the city), as well as a Japanese garden, a mini-zoo, a music fountain, and a few other attractions in the island.
