There are persistent concerns about the low investment in Education in Buvuma district, due to inadequate schools and poor remuneration of teachers. The district has over 6,000 school going children, but most parents cannot afford to take their children to the few schools available due to long distance. This has resulted into higher cases of early marriages and child labour in the Island district. MTN foundation handed over solar panels to 9 schools and three health centres as part of the investment in the education sector. #NTVNews
