Chinese driving instructor’s ‘fruit gearbox’ puts him on the road to internet fame

A Chinese driving instructor has become an online sensation with videos showing him using fresh produce to teach students how to operate a car.

In one video published August 7, 2019, the instructor from Yueyang in China’s central Hunan province, carves a watermelon to look like a manual-transmission gearbox to demonstrate shifting patterns.

The instructor also has videos using other fresh produce such as a pumpkin, as well as common objects like smartphones to simulate accelerator pedals.
