Intoxicants are not pure and we are advised to stay away from them. The keyword is khamr and not alcohol. The alcohol used in perfumes is not something you can consume rather it is poisonous in large amounts.
The ruling of using animal fat derived soaps is the same, the animal derivative undergoes so much change that the ruling applies on the new product and is allowed to be used.
