Blue Color Road in Qatar | Exclusive Drive in Blue Road Doha

A pilot project has been launched by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) to paint the Abdullah Bin Jassim Street near Souq Waqif in blue to reduce the temperature of the asphalt by 15 - 20 degrees Celsius, reported the local Arabic daily Al Raya.

The high temperatures are created by the absorption of heat from dark-coloured asphalt roads as they accumulate solar heat. Light colour painting lowers the temperature of the road surface by reflecting sunlight from asphalt pavement.

In a Twitter post, Engineer Saad Al-Dosari said: “The temperature of dark asphalt is 20 degrees Celsius higher than the actual temperature because black attracts and radiates heat."

Al-Dosari further pointed out that the blue paint maintains its colour for a long time without being affected by the wheels, resulting in a long-life pavement. In addition, the blue colour provides the street with a unique and different shape, especially as it passes from Souq Waqif, which is one of the most important tourist attractions in the country.
