“Sky Walkway” In The Gorge, How The Temporary Ropeway Supplies Materials For The Bridge

A towering concrete bridge pier stands in the canyon, with a dense network of inclined cables interwoven with temporary construction cableways. Workers are pushing towards the opposite bank along the suspended walkway, and cantilevered box girders are extending from the top of the pier to both sides. This is a key bridge in the Caucasus Mountain Highway Project, spanning a V-shaped deep canyon with steep terrain on both sides, making it impossible to construct conventional construction access roads. In order to transport materials to the high-altitude work surface, the construction team built temporary suspension walkways and construction cableways, and used cantilever hanging basket technology to pour box girders without the need to set up supports at the valley bottom. The stability control of high piers and stress monitoring of box girders are the core difficulties in construction, as strong winds, low temperatures, and narrow working surfaces pose significant challenges to the construction process. After the completion of the bridge, it will break through the traffic bottleneck in mountainous areas, reducing the travel time that originally required hours to detour around mountain roads to a few minutes, and opening up new channels for economic development and personnel exchanges in remote mountainous areas.
