You Can't Raise Distance and Expect Closeness Later

Let’s talk conditional Love.

Like it or not, punishing children in anyway shows your children that you only love them when they are convenient, behaved, emotionally small.

When we punish a child with physicality, isolation (time out), grounding, removing privileges. We are telling them they are not worthy of love unless they are perfect.

We leave them feeling emotionally insecure and distant.

Then after 18 years of not tolerating age appropriate behaviours, these parents expect them to be friends and call their child entitled or ungrateful for not wanting a relationship. But it’s the result of the distance that was raised.
