WTTW Channel 11 - Dial A-L-C-O-H-O-L - "The Legend of Paulie Green" (1976 / 1980)

Here's an edition of an educational series about the perils of alcohol abuse, Dial A-L-C-O-H-O-L, that aired on WTTW Channel 11. There is not a lot of info on this but it appears to have been produced in 1976.

This installment is entitled "The Legend of Paulie Green," about the title character's battle with the bottle and his working at the County Health Clinic, interspersed with such scenes as a daughter (Karen Jamison) who calls the line about her alcoholic mom, and ending with Paulie and other recovering alcoholics at a meeting.

"Taxis in snow" station ID, up for about 37 seconds (voiceover promos for Sesame Street, Nova, Chicago Week in Review, Image Union and Masterpiece Theatre by Marty Robinson)

Opening titles

"Two characters are featured: Paulie Green, the problem drinker from' the first film "Hotline," and Karen, a young lady who has an alcoholic mother. Paulie is now recuperating from his bout with alcoiiolism • he has a job, is in school, and is seeing a psychologist. Flashbacks show the events that triggered Paulie's drinking problem. Karen calls the Hotline and is referred to Alateen, a group which specializes in helping young people to cope with the problem of alcoholic parents.".
