Woman killed, deputy injured during separate incidents on SH 249 at Old Bammel North Houston Road

A woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle while crossing SH 249 near Old Bammel North Houston Road in northwest Harris County.

Investigators say the woman was running across the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a southbound vehicle. She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

Investigators said the driver had a green light, showed no signs of intoxication and is not expected to face charges.

During the investigation, a Harris County deputy was also struck by a vehicle while crossing the roadway. The deputy suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital. The driver in that incident was arrested on a charge related to possession of suspected narcotics.
