Mosquitoes love your blood

There’s already been scientific evidence to back up this idea that one blood type is more attractive to mosquitoes than others. In fact, mosquitoes have learned how to identify the signs of blood type that have high protein proportion in blood. They sense this through the chemical cues shown on the skin of a person.

You breathe
Mosquitoes identify their destination by recognizing the CO2 in their breath. A maxillary palp, an organ of mosquitoes, is used to find CO2 from a distance of 164 feet. Fat people usually release more gas. The more gas people exhale, the more attractive to the mosquitoes. With smaller body figures, children are less likely to be bitten by mosquitoes than adults.

You secrete a lot of sweat
Lactic acid, uric acid, ammonia and other substances in human sweat are appealing to mosquitoes and they would love you forever if your body produces a lot of heat.

Your skin bacteria attract mosquitoes
Our attractiveness to mosquitoes is associated with several kinds of bacteria living on human skin. Plenty of particular types of skin bacteria may turn you into a delicious feast to mosquitoes, some bacteria can lessen the chance of being stung.

You are a beer lover
Like you or some of your friends, mosquitoes adore the smell of beer. A study shows that drinking a 12-ounce bottle of beer makes mosquitoes notice you more easily. Scientists
explain that drinking boosts ethanol excretion in your sweat and increases your body temperature. However, this explanation is still debatable.

You are pregnant
Studies found that pregnant women attract twice as many mosquito bites as others. This may result from 2 factors. The proportion of CO2 exhaled by pregnant women is roughly 20% more than that of the normal ones and they have higher body heat ( about 1.26 degree F)

You are wearing a bold color
This may sound preposterous but besides scent mosquitoes detect its targets by vision as well. So bold colors like black, dark blue or red are more likely to stand out to them.

Natural Repellents for Mosquitoes
Some studies have been conducted to unravel the mystery why some people are never bitten by mosquitoes in the hopes of creating the next generation of insect repellants. Using chromatography to isolate the particular chemicals these people emit, scientists have found that these natural repellers tend to excrete a handful of substances that mosquitoes don’t seem to find appealing. Eventually, they incorporate these molecules into advanced bug spray.

Tips for Mosquito prevention
Mosquitoes are most active during sunrise and sunset; therefore, you should avoid going out these periods.
For other body parts which can’t not be protected by clothes, a repellent is of much help here.
Mosquitoes can’t get around very much, therefore using a fan can be effective because when the air keeps moving, these annoying insects can’t approach you.
When you have mosquito bite, try not to scratch as it would break your skin, causing you to run a risk of bleeding, scabs, infection and scarring. Instead, put an ice cube on the spot.
Over-the-counter anti-itch creams with a mild topical steroid like hydrocortisone is also recommended.
