One has no enough words to narrate the amazing beauty of scenic spots in one of the serene districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Situated at a distance of 341 kilometres from Islamabad – the capital city of Pakistan - the Upper Dir district is home to fairy valleys, springs, mesmerising waterfalls, lush green plains, lofty mountains and forests. It is located in Malakand Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and the town of Dir is its district headquarters.
It borders Chitral district and Afghanistan on the north and north-west and Swat district to the east, and on the south by Lower Dir district.
The video-documentary on Upper Dir district begins with the scenic Kumrat Valley. We can see streams, springs, mesmerising waterfalls, lush green plains, lofty mountains and thick forests and a horse along with a foal running on the grassy ground. Vehicles are crossing the stream and the tourists and families watching the stunning waterfalls. Sitting on the bank of a stream, the tourists including men, women and children take a close look of the clean and blue gushing water that creates a hypnotising sound like a rhythmical music. Children are also playing along the bank side.
The yellow and red and blue tents and colourful umbrellas pitched along the banks of the stream is another eye-catching and worth-seeing sight.
Situated at an altitude of 3,100 metres above the sea level, the marvelous Jaz Banda is another segment in the video-documentary. The scenes of thick forests, greenery on plains and mountains and streams of flowing water in the foothills are stunning. Tourists riding the horses and a tiny foal behind it is always a common and welcome sight for the visitors and children in Jaz Banda.
Then comes Katora Lake, which is an alpine glacial lake located in the upper reaches of Jaz Banda in Kumrat Valley. The lake looks like a bowl or tumbler, so it got fame with the name of katora, means bowl.
We can see waterfalls, snow-capped mountain peaks including 15,700 feet high Chambargahai Peak with white clouds hovering over it. Colourful flowery plants, tall trees on the lofty hills, lush greenery on the plains and flowing water streams are really making attractive sights for the tourists and visitors to welcome them. Farmers busy harvesting wheat crops and beekeepers dealing with buzzing bees are other sights from our different walks of life.
The camera then clicks on the Dir City, Bab-e-Dir and a majestic statue of horse and the horseman, and the various walks of life including food stuffs like Kabab, breads, tikkas and handicrafts, tailoring and blacksmiths busy making knives. Dir knives, popularly known as diroji knives, are famous all over the country.
Different historic structures and buildings in the Dir Nawab Fort and Dir Museum, wooden mosque in Thall, Hill Park Dir are other sights of attraction in the video.
