UNSOLVED: The Murder of Patricia Richmond

On the morning of November 8th 1973 19-year-old Patricia Richmond set out from her family home along Pluto Rd. in Raleigh County, West Virginia to run some routine errands. After dropping her 1-year-old daughter Angela off at her mothers home Patricia set about delivering Amway products along Old Crow Road and later drover her elderly grandmother to Ransom's Market in Beaver, WV. At noon, Patricia appeared to be right on schedule.

However, by the time the sun set over Raleigh County it would be all to apparent that something had gone wrong. Patricia failed to return to either her own home or her mother's home. Her parents and husband, Bruce, launched an extensive land and air search for Patricia and her bright orange 1970 Volkswagen Beetle.

Onw week later, on November 16th, the burnt out remnants of Patricia's vehicle were found over a hillside along Minden Dr. near the old Concho trash dump in Minden, West Virginia. The car was burnt to its shell but no sign of Patricia or anyone else could be found.

On November 23rd 1973 everyone's worst fears came to pass when two raccoon hunters discovered the body of Patricia Richmond in the swampy backwaters of Plum Orchard Lake...nearly 10 miles away from where her burned out vehicle was found. What was a Missing Person's case was now a Homicide Investigation.

46 years later, Patricia's case remains unsolved.
