The Wall Of Worry

As the Talking Heads sang in 1985, we’re on the road to nowhere. We have stayed contained in the box since the beginning of August, for the S&P. Good news the market is way more than the S&P and our late cycle sectors continue to perform well. (Hello Gold!) Although sideways, it has been a bumpy ride. The S&P had 11 days of + or – of 1% swings. Volatility is up and we are now heading into one of the worst months of the year for the Markets.

With this backdrop, we’ll continue with a high position in cash and interest rate sensitive sectors. Two of 3 negative signals and we believe it’s not a good time to deploy new cash.
