The Unfinished Obelisk: A Block So Heavy We Still Can't Lift It

Lying in a quarry in Egypt is a single block of stone so heavy we still couldn't lift it today. It was meant to be the tallest obelisk ever made, carved from one solid piece of granite, over 40 meters high and more than a thousand tons. But as they carved it free, a crack split the stone and the project was abandoned. It still lies there, half attached to the bedrock, exactly where they left it 3,500 years ago.
