*The Black Parade* is the third studio album by the American punk rock band My Chemical Romance.
For this new release, the band members decided to experiment and try out new instruments, according to frontman and lead singer Gerard Way.
The name *The Black Parade* first appeared during a My Chemical Romance concert in London. On the night of the show in the English capital, a voice announced to the audience: "My Chemical Romance cannot come and play tonight due to major circumstances, and the band is sincerely sorry. However, the band thought they would bring along some good friends." A few seconds later, Gerard Way and his bandmates took the stage in London. Yet, they were not immediately recognizable, primarily due to Gerard's new look; he had traded his long, black hair for a nearly shaved head dyed platinum blonde. Nevertheless, fans recognized the band from the very first lyrics, even though Way had initially declared, "We are The Black Parade!"
