My MIL Changed My Child’s School Records Behind My Back

Update: Remember the MIL who CHANGED the school records so the mom wouldn’t be the emergency contact??

Well Rachel is back a year after she and the kids have gone no contact with her in-laws to give us a second update on how things are going.

Quick recap so you remember what this family did to Rachel:

1. First date - her now mother-in-law joined.

2. Subsequent dates - her now sister-in-law and mother-in-law would just happen to be in the area and join.

3. Vacations - her now in-laws would happen to be vacationing at the exact same spot at the same time and join.

4. The closeness grew more intrusive after her first baby when Rachel arrives home, FROM THE HOSPITAL to find her in-laws all waiting for her so she can be saged. According to her one SIL she had dangerous energy for the baby… COULD YOU IMAGINE??

5. Multiple FaceTime calls daily checking on Rachel’s cooking, cleaning, commenting on how nothing was ever good enough.

6. Rachel finally stopped going to family events, to protect her mental health, but didn’t prevent husband or children from going.

7. Once her kids begged her to come only for her to join and discover her MIL hired a professional photographer and there were matching outfits for her children to change into.

8. Photo books were created with 100s of family photos, and Rachels oldest noticed she wasn’t in a single photo.

9. Husband confronted his mom, she denied it. Made a second photo album with just Rachel (every unflattering, half in the frame photo). Gave it to her with her first and middle name but didn’t include married name.

10. Family started therapy (couples, individual, and family).

11. The team of therapists instructed them they needed distance for the health of everyone in this family.

12. They moved an hour away (not far enough)

13. When they registered kids into the new school that’s when they discovered why for years Rachel struggled to get the school to call her, a SAHM when her child was sick, not her husband or her MIL…

14. Turns out when her MIL volunteered at the school office, she changed the school forms.

15. When the team of therapists heard this they said this isn’t a boundary violation this is a safety concern and Rachel and the kids when no contact (that was a year ago).

16. At that time Rachel’s other SIL changed positions in her job so she could travel between school districts and still have access to Rachel’s kids while they were at school.

17. This made the kids very uncomfortable, disrupted their learning experience, but no matter how many talks they had the school wouldn’t do anything to prevent her visits.

Now on to her update…
