Moving Forward - Children´s Health in Armenia

Hello!
My name is Pablo Elmassian, I am an Infectious Diseases Physician and I invite you to help me renew Surb Astvatsamayr Hospital´s Pediatric Neurosurgical Center, the only the only medical center in Armenia that treats children with neurosurgical diseases.

I am 49 years old, I was born in Uruguay, I live in Argentina and I am a descendant of Armenians; my grandparents told me stories about their country and their culture creating in me a huge sense of belonging and identity.

In 2005 I travelled to Armenia for the first time thanks to the invitation of Dr. Daniel Stamboulian to direct the health programs of FIDEC Armenia. This foundation aims to ensure that children, women and rural workers have access to healthcare and improve their quality of life.

Running has been my motivation since my adolescence and that is why I decided to join my profession and my passion to take on the challenge of running a solidarity ultra-marathon throughout the entire country to complete a distance of 1,000 kilometers in order to raise funds for the renewal of the Neurosurgical department and the purchase of an Electrocorticography and a Neuroendoscope.

I count on your help in this solidarity project for the children of Armenia to raise the necessary funds so that Surb Astvatsamayr Hospital can renovate its Pediatric Neurosurgical Center. With your contribution we can give a new life opportunity to the youth of my country.

Goals:

1st goal - Construction of a new Neurosurgical Department at the Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center - US$ 91.000.

Full Neurosurgical operating area (140m2) includes:
-Transition area.
-Personnel changing room.
-Pre-operating room.
-Operating room.
-Post-Operative Intensive Care Unit.
-Nurse room.
-Sterilized Storage room for surgical materials.
-Hazardous waste storage room.

2nd Goal - Purchase of a high resolution Electrocorticography.

Benefits: Enables to identify the boundaries of seizure focus, to allow its removal.

3rd Goal - Purchase of a Neuroendoscope.

Benefits:
-Minimally invasive brain interventions in cases of occlusion hydrocephalus, isolated brain cysts, brain tumor biopsy.
-Reduces surgical trauma of the brain, which in turn reduces the risk of infection, hemorrhage, and complications derived from shunting systems.

Mi nombre es Pablo Elmassian, soy médico Infectólogo y te invito a que juntos ayudemos a renovar el Departamento de Neurocirugía Pediátrica del Hospital Surb Astvatsamayr, el único centro de salud en Armenia que trata niños con enfermedades neuroquirúrgicas.

Tengo 49 años, nací en Uruguay, vivo en Argentina y soy descendiente de armenios; mis abuelos me hablaron de su país y su cultura, creando en mí un sentido de pertenencia e identidad.

En 2005 viajé por primera vez a Armenia, gracias a la invitación del Dr. Daniel Stamboulian, para dirigir los programas de salud de FIDEC Armenia. Esta fundación tiene como objetivo que niños, mujeres y trabajadores rurales puedan acceder a la salud y mejorar su calidad de vida.

Correr es mi motivación desde mi adolescencia y es por eso que decidí unir mi profesión y mi pasión para asumir el desafío de correr una ultramaratón solidaria a lo largo de todo el país hasta alcanzar los 1.000 kilómetros con el fin de recaudar fondos para la renovación del departamento neuroquirúrgico y la compra de una Electrocorticografía y un Neuroendoscopio.

Cuento con tu ayuda en este proyecto solidario por los niños de Armenia para recaudar los fondos necesarios para que el Hospital Surb Astvatsamayr pueda renovar su Departamento de Neurocirugía Pediátrica. Con tu aporte podemos dar una nueva oportunidad de vida a los niños de mi país.

1° Meta - Rediseño y reconstrucción de las instalaciones del Departamento de Neurocirugía del Hospital Surb Astvatsamayr - US$ 91.000.

Bloque operativo neuroquirúrgico completo (140m2):
-Área de transición.
-Vestuario del personal.
-Sala de preoperación.
-Sala de operaciones.
-Unidad de cuidados intensivos post-operación.
-Sala de enfermería.
-Sala de almacenamiento para materiales limpios.
-Depósito de residuos para materiales sucios/usados.

2° Meta - Entregar un nuevo Electrocorticografía.

3° Meta - Entregar un nuevo Neuroendoscopio.
