Making a Mess w/Linda - ASMR-like, No sounds

Well Hello there my friends!

For almost a year now I have been telling you that I am mostly self-taught potter, so I thought it was about time to show you that my words are true.

I decided to make an ASMR-like video of (me or) my throwing on my wheel. There's not any sound, nor words on this video, just me making a mess and trying to find the "zone" today. Yeah, that didn't happen and I messed up a lot of clay. BUT that is ok because you have to fail sometimes to be able to move forward.

I understand that ASMR videos are those without talking/music and it's the just the sounds of the activity. However, my dogs like to hang out in the studio with me and they talk. A lot. So I have removed all audio from this video.

I'm not the best of the wheel, I prefer to hand-build my pottery, but it's good to switch it up. And golly, I need the practice. This clay that I am using is a mid-fire (Cone 5/6) clay called Buffalo Wallow. It's got some grog, but it's not too bad. Truth be told, I prefer porcelain to work with, either hand building or wheel throwing, but I figured I'd start here.

I make mistakes, a lot of them. I'm okay with that. Sometimes things just don't go as you want them to and with clay that's ok. I'll wedge it back into a homogenous consistency and begin again. That's ok. Mistakes are not bad things, as I feel that you need to make mistakes or have things not go as planned in order to understand what you need to do better, practice more at or change the way that you approach it all together.

If I don't forget, the next video will be the trimming of the 5 pieces that I didn't destroy today. I really like trimming the pots, as it's really satisfying, but it's easy to take too much off. lol. Then you are really able to see if your work was centered or not.
