What actually works is building a simple, daily family rhythm of "moving in close."

When a sibling is having a hard day, or a parent is feeling overwhelmed, we don’t distance ourselves. We call a gentle "timeout," step in, and protect them by offering practical help. When children are "coached up" through these small, real-life moments at home, empathy ceases to be an abstract lecture. It becomes an instinctive, lifelong habit that they naturally carry out into their classrooms, onto the playground, and into the world. ????????️
