Hungary’s Huge Esperanto Movement

Since the earliest days of the movement to adopt the “universal” Esperanto language, it has always had a widespread presence in Hungary. But why does Esperanto — developed using languages totally unrelated to Hungarian — still have such a footprint among Hungarian speakers and in Hungarian education today?
