ZAZ-968 is a legendary "small car" of the Zaporizhia Automobile Plant, which was produced from 1971 to 1994. It has three main modifications (968, 968A, 968M), the traditional rear engine location has entered the history of the Soviet automobile industry as a “particularly low-class” people's car.
This car has collected around it a lot of contradictory statements, irony and even ridicule, but still, during the existence of the USSR, was very popular. And let this popularity owe a record low price, but thousands of families were able to finally get a vehicle, and were, moreover, quite happy.
Probably everyone remembers that the first “Zaporozhtsy” 965 models were openly created on the basis of the Fiat-600, the resemblance to which as a result was simply amazing.
What's interesting about this car is the fact that it was the last of the family of "Cossacks" (Zaporozhtsy), and its last modification 968M was produced, from 1980 to 1994, with virtually no changes or improvements.
By the way, the ZAZ-968M was also manufactured with a gas installation, but they were not intended for sale, but merely served as cargo carriers within the enterprise.
