A felvétel 2021. június 26-án készült, a Pécsi Tudományegyetem Művészeti Kar Zeneművészeti Intézetének karvezetés diplomakoncertjén, a ZMI Liszt Ferenc hangversenytermében.

Gottfried August Homilius kiemelkedő alakja a kései 18. századi német zenének, az egyik legfontosabb protestáns templomi zeneszerzője korának. 1714-ben a szászországi Rosenthalban született. Johann Sebastian Bachtól zeneszerzést és billentyűjátékot tanult. Szinte minden egyházi műfajban alkotott: 60 motettát, több mint 200 egyházi kantátát, oratóriumokat, passiókat, illetve orgonaműveket is komponált. Legkiemelkedőbb alkotásai vokális művei, melyek többsége a drezdai Kreuzkirche kórusának készültek. Dallamait természetes könnyedség és népies egyszerűség jellemzi. Munkái Bach és Händel korában gyökeredznek, ugyanakkor már megjelennek nála preklasszikus jegyek is, ahogy stílusa érlelődik.
„Ich will den Herrn loben allezeit” című művében a 34. zsoltár szövege csendül fel, mely magyarul így szól:
Áldom az Urat minden időben, dicsérete mindig ajkamon van!
Dicsekedik lelkem az Úrban; s hallják ezt a szegények és örülnek.
Dicsőítsétek velem az Urat, és magasztaljuk együtt az ő nevét.

The recording was made on the 26th of June, 2021, at the graduation concert of the Institute of Music of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Pécs, in the Liszt Ferenc Concert Hall.


Gottfried August Homilius was a standout character in late 18th century German music, one of the most important Protestant church composer of his day. He was born in 1714 in Rosenthal, Saxony. He took lessons from Johann Sebastian Bach in composition and keyboard playing. He composed almost every genre of church music: 60 motets, more than 200 sacred cantatas, oratories, Passion music and organ works as well. His most outstanding compositions are his vocal works which he composed in the main for Kreuzkirche’s choir in Drezden. His melodies are characterized by natural lightness and folklike simplicity. His works are rooted in the age of Bach and Händel, but at the same time he already shows preclassical notes as his style matures.
In this piece „Ich will den Herrn loben allezeit” a few lines from the 34th Psalm will appear :
I will extol the Lord at all times, his praise will always be on my lips.
I will glory in the Lord, let he afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the Lord with me, let us exalt his name together.
