Four Loko Teases Hard Seltzer With 14% Alcohol

Most hard seltzer is pretty tame.

Think just 5% alcohol by volume or ABV.

But a new competitor just entered the mix with nearly triple the alcohol content.

Four Loko just teased a new seltzer on social media with 14% ABV.

It’s billed as “the hardest seltzer in the universe.”

It’s unclear when the drink will be available.

Delish says the beverage line’s old drinks were famous for being dangerously concentrated and caffeinated.

Foodie website Eater reports the original formula caused hospitalizations around the country.

The formula no longer contains caffeine.

Four Loko’s post comes on the heels of Pabst Blue Ribbon entering the hard seltzer game with a drink containing 8% alcohol, which seemed high at the time.

And Natural Light – or Natty Light recently debuted its first spiked seltzers with 6% ABV.

Esquire says the spiked seltzer market is getting crowded because Americans don’t like drinking beer as much as they used to.

“Ninety-nine bottles of hard seltzer on the wall” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
