Christine McVie wrote the song for Fleetwood Mac’s 1975 self-titled album — the band’s first with Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks in the lineup.

Released as a U.S. single in 1976, “Say You Love Me” reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a longtime concert staple.

At the Waldorf Astoria in New York City in 1998, Fleetwood Mac opened their induction performance with “Say You Love Me,” followed by “Big Love” and “Landslide.” It was among Christine McVie’s final performances with the group before she rejoined in 2014.

Sheryl Crow inducted Fleetwood Mac, who entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame the same night as The Eagles, Santana, and The Mamas & the Papas, among others.
