In this NYSAIS-Now eSeminar in March of 2020, Marisa S. Chin-Calubaquib, Jennifer Lam, and Heather J. Pinedo-Burns from the Hollingworth Preschool at Teachers College, Columbia University, share their practice of using Zoom in the early childhood tele-classroom. The team also shares their plans for expanding their options to best meet the many domains of learning with which young children engage, as well as their ever-expanding list of tips and tricks for using zoom conferencing as they learn and grow as John Dewey advocated, by doing.
Our current global crisis is positioning early childhood educators to wonder about and embrace the challenge of maintaining connections with our youngest students during these critical times of school closure.
In their effort to maintain community through distance learning during their school closure they developed Zoom Connections, a menu of opportunities for teachers to propose small online sessions for young children throughout the school day.
