Daniel Perttu - Elvendream Piano Concerto

Dr. Daniel Perttu is an associate professor of music theory and composition at Westminster College, where he is the Chair of the School of Music. His music has been performed on four continents and in over 30 of the United States. Performances of his music have occurred in arts festivals, new music festivals and concerts, solo recitals at the international, national, and regional levels, Society of Composers conferences, and College Music Society conferences. Dr. Perttu's music can be found on the Navona records label, in which his music has appeared on three albums. In particular, his recent orchestra piece is the title feature of the CD entitled Light and Shadow. Critics have characterized this piece as “blending mystery, action, and excitement,” and have praised it as being “fantastic” and “superb.” Besides his CD releases, Dr. Perttu’s music has been published by Editions Musica Ferrum (Athens, Greece), BRS Music, Inc., as well as Dorn Publications. Dr. Perttu has also received various commissions and awards from throughout the country, the most recent of which was from the Lakeland Civic Orchestra in the Cleveland, OH, region. Another significant commission was for the composition of Mountain Twilight for the Greenville Symphony Orchestra and Shenango Valley Chorale in northwestern Pennsylvania. He completed his doctorate at Ohio State, master's degrees at Kent State, and bachelor's degree at Williams College, graduating magna cum laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
