Curtis Mayfield Performs “Super Fly” Live (1972)

Curtis Mayfield’s Super Fly soundtrack went all the way to the top of the charts.

Written for the 1972 blaxploitation film with the same name, Super Fly topped the Billboard albums chart in October 1972.

Fellow Inductees including The Beastie Boys, Biggie, and Eminem have all sampled songs from the soundtrack.

Curtis Mayfield was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 as a member of The Impressions and in 1999 as a solo artist.
