14. Where did I put that damn 6.35 ? (tV2)
Leírás
Excerpt from the second album of the Virtuals band "Protest & Love Sounds Revisited”, by The Virtuals " (P&LS/tV2 : https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFVbSYxhyhXc). The band remastered some old songs from bootleg recordings, dating back to their early days on the AI scene. [All my lyrics are made by a true human, recorded with IA Voices & Music]
Lyrics:
The hermetic rambling of my brain in confusion not worth a signature.
Obscure, some stupid album
and these starving worms
are the neurotic symptom
of a psychotic alluvium.
But what an epileptic writer
won't come up with some slang words, exotic?
Just to use up its inkwell, programmatic
and develop its scriptural and paper
Write words on glossy paper
The feeling of powerlessness or power
facing the pages, the world as flamethrower.
Write sentences to fill in the gaps
or unwanted presences, kept under wraps.
But all this... even if it helps,
is never more than an ersatz,
a substitute for happiness
This unattainable target, that ultimately
I might not even want to aim finally.
Nothing can rid a memory that obsesses us.
No ship backwards will take us.
The things we missed will not come back.
Humanity is already take the wrong track.
Delay, wait, why?
No matter the route,
The outcome is always the same!
All our actions are only palliatives,
But where did I put that damn 6.35?
Damned!
Hobbies to forget the flow.
A parade to occupy the mind
when you don't have the balls
to anticipate the call!
No doubt, that's why
That I fear boredom so shy,
That I never want have motion
The slightest minute of inaction.
I'm Alice's bunny.
But fill the time that escapes
We are all hypocrites to ourselves nasty,
Always looking for pretexts and excuses.
I don't have the solution,
Except my damn 6.35?
Damned!
-------------
I have been writing texts, poems, and songs in notebooks for over 40 years. Not being in a musical or artistic environment, I never had the chance to hear what these texts could become if set to music until the emergence of musical AI. I don't believe it can sustainably replace real human artists and musicians. My songs should be considered drafts of what they could become if performed by real singers and real musicians. Throughout the history of music, technological revolutions have been blamed for killing "real" musicians or "real" music, but the electrification of instruments didn't kill Bob Dylan's folk music; it expanded its audience. Drum machines didn't kill drummers and percussionists; synthesizers didn't replace musicians. AI won't either, in a few years, once artists have learned to master it. AI won't do it either. In a few years, when artists have learned to tame it, it will become one of the many tools they integrate into their work, just like samplers, vocoders, rotary-neck electric guitars, 24-track recorders, etc. I'm not looking to monetize my creations, but if artists were interested in using one of my texts, we could talk about it, for example, in the form of donations to charitable organizations of my choice.
