vintage Sheaffer's snorkel fountain pen, red-orange w/ silver & gold cap; works*

Description

Okay, let me clear up one thing: I said that the nib is 14K.  I do NOT know that the NIB is 14k; SOMETHING on the inside below the nib is marked 14K--that could be the trim.  I do not want to misrepresent.
These pictures show the color of the pen--too orangey to be red, and too reddish to be orange.  It's about the color of Italian coral, the darkish kind used in jewelry, or the Crayola red-orange crayon.
There are NO scratches, NO dents, NO gouges.  I think it was used once or twice and then emptied and kept in the box.  The box is in excellent shape EXCEPT for a name scratched out top right (as seen in the second picture), a colorless scratch under that (only seeable when you're looking for it and when the light is right), missing elastic to hold the pen in place, and another scribble (in pencil?) on the silk lining of the inside of the box.  I checked under the silk--no elastic, but a small tag that said "lift pad for instructions."  The instructions are in perfect shape . . . folded, of course, but otherwise perfect.
Now, about the workings.  I personally know NOTHING about this pen's history.  When I first opened it, I turned all the places that turned and was amazed to see the snorkel.  "I ruined it," I thought.  And then I did something--pushed? unscrewed it further?--and I heard a puff of air.  My conclusion is that there is currently NO ink in the cartridge and that the mechanism works.  But I don't KNOW that, because I do not intend to try it!  I DID see evidence of ink: there's a slight discoloration in the top of the tube, so I'm pretty sure it was used a few times.  I am 98.5% sure that this pen was not ever restored.
This pen came from the estate of the mother of a fellow parishioner, who gave me about 50 pounds [two and a half large boxes often used to pack reams of paper] of jewelry.  This pen was included in the donation.  My job is to prepare the donated jewelry to be sold at our Christmas Bazaar, but this pen needs the attention of a collector, I think.  This and a few other pieces I'm listing this week will help my church donate to worthy charities in the state of Delaware; I promise that I will not take the money myself for a trip out of town.
