Offered for sale are a
pair (2)
of magnificent, sterling silver, guilt,
Footed Fruit/Candy Bowls
in a pattern with
"
Northwind heads"
made in London circa 1904 & 1905 by R.H. Halford & Sons. (
These were deaccessioned from a museum here in New England and carry the temporary Museum inventory markings on the underside of the bowls.)
They measure
7 1/2" in length handle to handle
and are very substantial weighing
over one troy pound
(
16.69 troy ozs. together.)
The workmanship is excellent and the
opposing "Northwind" heads
are very well done. Both of the bowls rest on four Lion Paw feet as shown in the pictures. The underside of one of the bowls has the hallmarking and name of the silversmith, the other is hallmarked on the inside top edge. Both of the Bowls are in excellent condtion
with only normal surface wear
commensurate with the age of this piece and normal usage.
