Outstanding George III exceedingly large Sauce Gravy boat.
Sauce Boats of this size were sometimes used as centerpieces.
Made in London by Robert Garrard, 1804. Clear hallmarks.
Lion's feet, gadrooned edging, acanthus leaf handle.
Adorned with a crest of a Crowned Lion holding a Shield with St. George's Cross, with a large Crown floating above all, suggesting a connection to nobility.
Excellent antique condition with typical micro-pitting, no dents or scratches that are easily visible.
Unexpected width and depth of bowl, overall piece quite heavy for a Sauce Boat.
