A new external ground lug on the bottom side of the balun has been added for those who want to install a direct ground connection to the balun. Of course, the traditional grounding system is still avalable thru use of the coax shield and a ground connection on the back of the radio. Either ground option works great to  reduce common mode noise!

Up for bid is a new product from Lowbander, a trusted name in  SWL Radio! Antenna builders will love this NEW heavy duty, hand crafted, quality antenna insulator with a built in HIGH PERFORMANCE, LOW LOSS  9:1 Ferrite Balun, made from high quality ferrite material with coverage from 125kz thru 30 mhz. All you need to do is attach some good quality antenna wire and a coax cable, to the standard UHF SO-239 socket,  that is  long enough to reach your radio room and you will be able to hear signals like never before.
A handy eye bolt has been installed on top of the balun to allow support for the antenna. Nylon cord, rope or wire can be attched thru the eye bolt to deploy your antenna from a high mast, tree, or eave of the house. An additional eye bolt on the side has been installed for stress relief and allows antennas of heavy gauge wire or length to be used with the balun. This is a new feature! The electrical contact and antenna conductivity has NO stress connections for long life and low noise!!   Hams have used masts with a pulley on top and run small nylon rope down to the eye bolt harware so that the whole antenna can be raised or lowered easily from thr ground.
All hardware on the balun is made from high quality heavy duty zinc coated steel and strong PVC tubing. The balun is weather sealed with silcone on the inside for years of reliable use. Instructions for installation of an end fed longwire and the Lowbander Balun come in  the mailing box.
The experts all agree that the purpose of a balun is to block common mode waves (current flowing in the same direction on both conductors of a transmission line) and pass differential mode waves (current flowing in opposite directions on the conductors).
There are many reasons to want to block common mode waves, but for receiving the major one is that noise from your house wiring can easily reach your antenna by traveling up your feedline in common mode. Other examples of common noise reduced are from devices such as electric motors, A/C and furnace fans, computers and monitors, street lights, household appliances, etc. It isn't necessary to use a balun to block the common mode, however: with coaxial cable, grounding the shield short circuits the common mode noise, greatly improving your chances to hear more signals!
This 9:1 Balun is also an impedance transformer. The transformer matches a coaxial line to the 600-700 ohms impedance of an end fed wire antenna of at least 80'-125'  long .It should open a new world of signals that many users have never even knew existed and certainly never copied on their short or indoor antennas! With stronger signals users can decrease the RF Gain on many receivers and improve the signal to noise ratio a great deal! Weak signals that would not even be heard at all on short built in antennas in many SW receivers, will be good copy with a longwire antenna.
