    Description

Presented is a married set of 7 sterling silver place or serving spoons made between 1792-1823. 4 of the spoons are English sterling silver, 3 were made by William Thomson circa 1820s and 1 was made by Solomon Hougham in 1792. Three of the spoons were made by William Thomson of New York City during the early 1800s, probably the 1820s or 1830s. All of the spoons are engraved with a crowned lion crest (except for the oldest spoon, where the lion has no crown.) This set of spoons has a heavy weight.
Three spoons are marked with the leopard’s head for London, lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark, a date letter h for the year 1823 and a maker’s mark for William Chauner. Three of the spoons are marked W Thomson. One spoon is marked with the leopard’s head for London, lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark, a date letter r for 1792 and a maker’s mark most likely for Solomon Hougham.
This set is in fabulous condition. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals and no repairs.
Each spoon measures 8 3/4 inches long and the combined weight of the set is 473.3 grams or 16.7 ounces.
